AGM? whats AGM? well heres what happend! (01-11-07)AGM meeting run down!
(basically the AGM diluted like orange juice for your easy reading)
At last, the long awaited AGM meting has been held and issues adressed!
First off i would like to point out the websites contact details has been FINALLY changed to their respective details.
The meeting started with Simon giving a small speech on the year just passed, he spoke of how we have new members, aspiring new coachs, how coaching technique has improved and differed, how the news letter is now bigger and better thanks to bryan, and how the club now has a "professional" looking website (obviously he doesnt use the internet that much!)
Amongst the speech, comments where made, people nodded in agreement as they listened and spoke the occasionaly "yeah..." quietly to themselves, with the joke passed by Andy that the coaches recieve no pay, well it is volunteer work! We coaches (and assistants) dont get payed to do what we do! And if someone does there pulling a fast one on us!
Simon continued his speech to say how the open boating section of the club is now growing slowly but steadily, bryan later passed a comment on his speculation that he hopes it will pick up speed and grow more to become as popular as kayaking, the new syllabus should help it along, but lets not get too excited eh bry? We need some more open boats if you want to boom!
Money issues were adressed in the meeting by bill, a quick run through of the income and out goes of the club, all is well but the new boat house is somthing on all our minds, but nothing to worry about at all, amongst the money talk Bryan brought up the point that because the new BCU syllabus requires everyone to use an open boat for the 2 Star, we require some small solo open boats, the issue was adressed and hopefully more will come of it in the future, after some research into funding for the club! Yay for monies! (And yes im aware i spelt that wrong...for all those pedantic people out there, dont email me saying "ooo you spelt it wrong! bad ben!" because i don care, i did it on purpose so hah!)
Sadly Martin and Grace stood down and left the club comitee this year, and as a token of appreciation, flowers were given to them by Simon (brought by Sue i noticed!) Martin recieved the flowers and exchanged a light (but somewhat passionate which was disturbing) kiss on the cheek with Simon.
More talk and issues adressed and one point about Slalom paddleing emerged, maybey a speculation that those old fibreglass boats we have will once again be used? Well if they get used or not, Andy one again showed his dislike to Slalom in a comic gesture as always.
After the meeting was over, we decided to hold the comitee meeting, which is about where my notes stop, seeing as how thats not important for the website and somewhat confidential, sorry guys! my fingers are sealed...i think...
but the information i CAN reveal from the meeting, is a website which i will post on the site somewhere suitable (im still deciding to change the layout or not, maybey another collumn?) that helps the club, if you buy equipment from the website, the club recives credit from the same site, which means we could essentially buy boats FOR the club, when buying out own!
And last but not least, Bryan brought up a point that because he is practically the open boat coach (because he has the most experience and is so enthusastic) that all open boaters, under his command and rule, when on the water, MUST wear a tilly hat...whatever the hell that is! A common answer would be GOOGLE IT! Which i will do to see just what on earth he is talking about! All praise Google!
